Information Retrieval (IR) is a key technique in search engines, recommender systems, and other Web applications. While this course module emphasizes on the fundamentals and theories of IR, it also introduces recent development in research and applications. Through learning in this course module, students are expected to understand the basics and advanced techniques of IR, and is able to program and experiment with standard IR test datasets.
